Books, Guilt, & Havaianas

Current shopping obsession phase: BOOKS.

If there's a particular book I'm interested in, I would normally ask Bexie first if they have it then ask her if I can borrow (which takes me months to finish). This time though, I've spent the last few days glued on eBay searching and bidding online. So far, I bought 8 books already.
  • The Historian
  • The Four Agreements
  • Like Water for Chocolate
  • A Painted House
  • Sophie's World
  • Love Story
  • The End of the Affair
  • Summer Sisters

I decided to start buying books again because seeing my Havaianas collection has become an eyesore to me (for now.hehe). I just couldn't bear the guilt that my Havaianas might outnumber the books on my shelves. I hope I'd be able to find the time and the will to read each one of them soon.

Surprisingly, I've been to different Havaianas stores to see the new arrivals and I didn't buy -not even a single pair! That's a great achievement for me to be able to control the urge to buy those that used to be eyecandies to me. Although right now I can't seem to take away that black Pois from my mind...

One Fine Quiapo Day

Since it was a holiday last Monday, Joy and I decided to spend Monday morning in Quiapo. I woke up early. Next thing I know, I find myself browsing thru huge piles of DVDs and look what I got:

Yep, I got Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210. They're two of my favorite TV shows way back in grade school. I remember Friday being my favorite day of the week because aside from it being obviously a Friday, it also means that I could get to watch my favorite TV shows. I've been looking for these DVDs for the longest time and I'm so glad I finally found them! I also saw a boxset of Golden Girls but it can wait. It's next on my shopping list, though. Anyways, I also got seasons 1-6 of Gilmore Girls and I am watching it right now.

Afterwards, we went to Globe Lumpia House in G. Puyat Street (formerly Raon). We just walked so imagine how excruciating it was at 11:30 noontime. Anyways, the place is really small and simple (more like turo-turo). We ordered for take out 20 pieces of their famous lumpia. Each piece costs P17.00. There are photos of celebrities and articles posted inside the small restaurant. I read in one article that it opened in 1957 and took its name from the Globe Cinema where it started out as a kiosk. Movie goers were the first to discover the lumpia (local style spring rolls). Today the restaurant occupies a narrow space on the Gil Puyat St. side of the former cinema.

The moment I stepped inside our house, I ate a piece and another one. haha. It's that delicious! Believe me.

If only we didn't have to be home by 12 noon, we would have stayed longer and visited Quiapo Church. The last time I went to Quiapo Church was about 10 years ago.

I think Quiapo is going to be one of my favorite places to go to (sans the heat and pickpockets.hehe).

Kozui

I came across this post from Lori's blog last Tuesday and told the twins about it. I even went as far as having it printed out and sent to Marikina courtesy of Mr. Cupido. The photos are really enticing that we planned to go to Kozui in Tomas Morato that weekend.

Saturday came. I got SMS at around lunch time from the twins confirming our dinner (excited!). I was late (as usual) but this time it's really due to the heavy traffic in San Juan. Later that night, I found out that it was JV Ejercito's wedding day at Pinaglabanan Church. Oomph.

Upon arriving at the resto, they immediately handed me over the menu. We also found out that it's a self-serving restaurant. There's nothing else on the menu aside from everything stated on dessertcomesfirst. I'm sorry but it was disappointing, honestly.
After finishing our Takoyaki balls and weird flavored tea, we decided to have dinner at Omakase - a resto that we all love just a few blocks away!

We had coffee and tea at Baang Coffee afterwards and there I drooled over a bunch of 'geeks' inside the coffee shop, each one of them carrying a Macbook. Waaaaah!

I'm Back!

I have made quite a few attempts in the past weeks to post here but something always got in the way and so everything was just saved as draft and never published. I think I grew 10 years older already with all that's happened.

Anyways, I'm back. I hope it's for good.
